OUR JOURNEY TO SUSTAINABILITY
Shellvio loves the planet as much as you do! We understand that as a fashion brand, we have to take the responsibility and obligation to be more considerate and caring about the Earth and our Environment. Therefore, as we launched our brand in 2021, we have already began to plan and act on how to make our brand more sustainable. We’re focusing our efforts in the areas that delivers the biggest impact on creating more sustainable fashion which are: materials, designs, waste and packaging.
We’ve set a goal for all the materials we use in our clothes to be more sustainably sourced by 2025.
When we began our journey, although we made sure that our designs consists of sustainable characteristics that could push our consumers to wear it multiple times in different variations, majority of our materials used were still Cotton, Rayon, Viscose and Nylon, which are not ideal for the safety of our environment.
After realising that only minimizing our potential footprints in the design aspect is not enough, we prioritized and opted for more sustainable mix of materials and ones that can also amend with the waste in the fashion industry. Since Cotton, Rayon and Polyester has been our most used material in the past, we have chosen alternatives for it such as Organic Cotton, Recycled Cotton, Viscose and Recycled Polyester.
This allows us to transition to more sustainably sourced materials at affordable prices for our customers.
The use of better materials is one way we can reduce the impact of our products, but we also strive to design products differently to reduce waste, improve durability, or increase recyclability.
To reduce waste and increase durability and increase recyclability of our products, we design in a way that customers can have different variables to wear in just ONE item and make sure to test and triple check for its quality. This allows our customers to have different outfits and options in multiplle different times, instead of using it just one time or seeming like wearing an outifit over and over again, and throwing it out in the end. We hope to reduce waste, increase durability and increase recyclability by increasing the flexibility and usage of style in our items.
Packaging alone takes a huge percentage of footprint arond the world. Therefore, we took the steps to make our packaging 100% biodegradable. Instead of plastic, we are now using packaging that is made of corn starch which is biodegradable and compostable.
We also made our package mailers to be made of the same eco-friendly cornstarch material. To add to that our shopping bags are made of recycled straw that has a waterproof interior that is perfect to use for the beach of as a grocery bag as well.

As you can see, we have taken some steps to make our business practices more
sustainable. We are always looking for ways to lessen our carbon footprint and make the planet a cleaner place. When it comes to taking care of the earth, our love for the planet is a part of our mission.
